Everything stays in this browser: up to 30 characters, saved as you go. Export saves one as a file you can import on another device, or hand to your DM. 👥 Add to Party puts the character on the Toolbox's Party tab, where the encounter builder, initiative tracker, and DM Screen can use it.
Races, classes, spells, and rules are from the System Reference Document 5.1 by Wizards of the Coast LLC, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Feature text here is our own short summary; see the SRD for the full rules.
How the Character Builder works
Work through the steps in any order. Each one shows a red count of what's still to pick and a green check when it's done. The sheet updates as you go, so you can open it at any point and see your Armor Class, hit points, attacks, and spell save DC.
What's in it
- The nine SRD races: dwarf, elf, halfling, human, dragonborn, gnome, half-elf, half-orc, and tiefling.
- All twelve classes, each with its SRD subclass, from level 1 to 20, with hit points by average or by rolling.
- Ability scores by standard array, point buy, 4d6 drop lowest, or your own numbers from the table.
- The Acolyte background or one of your own, class starting gear or starting gold, and the Grappler feat.
- Spells from the Spellbook, filtered by your class and level, each linking to its full page.
For the DM
Quick Build rolls a complete character of any level, race, and class: an NPC adventuring party, a rival, or pregenerated characters for a one-shot. Add them to the party, then run the fight in the Initiative Tracker or balance it with the Encounter Builder.
